History

In the early 1920s, William E. Bock began manufacturing a highly efficient machine that could quickly spin water out of wet laundry, laying the groundwork for what would become the Bock Laundry Machine Company. In 1934, Carl Clement Sr. acquired the company after the passing of Mr. Bock, marking the start of a new chapter. After World War II, Carl’s sons, John and Carl Jr., returned from military service to join the family business. Their contributions expanded the company’s product line, even venturing into boat manufacturing from the 1950s through the 1970s.

As the company grew, John’s sons, Tom and John Jr., joined the team and continued to drive its expansion. This included a shift away from boat manufacturing and into food processing, leading to the creation of Bock Engineered Products in the 1990s. By the early 2000s, under new ownership by Glassline Corporation, the company was renamed North Star Engineered Products. Today, as a division of Glassline Corporation, we proudly manufacture equipment in Perrysburg, Ohio—just 20 miles from the company’s original location!
